Biography

Cinematographer and visual artist from Buenos Aires, currently based in Madrid. With a background in photography and visual arts, Alejo’s work blends natural light, texture, and human presence, revealing a sensitivity to the subtle and the real. Since beginning his career in 2004, he has worked across narrative film, documentary, and advertising, developing a strong foundation in image aesthetics and visual storytelling.


As a self-taught cinematographer, Alejo’s approach is rooted in hands-on experience, artistic experimentation, and an ongoing exploration of painting, cinematography, and the philosophy of the image.

His feature films include The Student (dir. Santiago Mitre), which earned him the Best Cinematography Award from the Argentine Association of Cinematographers (ADF); The Delinquents (dir. Rodrigo Moreno), which premiered in the “Un Certain Regard” section at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and received Best Cinematography awards from the Argentine Academy (AACCA) and the Havana Film Festival; and the Disney Star+ miniseries Nada (dir. Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat), starring Luis Brandoni and Robert De Niro. He is currently collaborating with acclaimed filmmaker Wang Bing on a documentary project filmed in Colombia.
