Biography

Nicola Sorcinelli is an Italian filmmaker. After working on film sets as a behind-the-scenes filmmaker and Assistant Director, he began directing his own films. His short films have screened and won awards at festivals around the world, including Academy Award-qualifying festivals. His recent works include Moby Dick, winner of the Nastro d’Argento (Italian Film Critics Award), and Ape Regina, a short film made in collaboration with the NGO Emergency. He later directed La Confessione, which was nominated in the same year for both the David di Donatello (Italy’s Academy Awards) and the Nastri d’Argento. Following a venture into major television series, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Balcanica, selected in competition at Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days) at the Venice International Film Festival.
