Julian Roffman was a cross-border director who made most of his films in the United States. He was responsible for two notable low-budget horror films: The Bloody Brood and The Mask, the first feature to use 3-D in Canada. He studied film in New York and in 1940 joined the NFB where he became responsible for the Armed Service Production program.
