He was born in Istanbul in 1946. He directed his first film in 1972, titled Hayal Uçurumu, with singer Mehmet Taneri in the leading role. His last film, Yağmurlu Gecede Gülperi, brought the total number of films he directed to over 150. He also ventured into children's literature, publishing numerous books in this genre. In 1970, his book Cam Kırıkları, which dealt with the sexual issues of society, was recognized by Cumhuriyet newspaper as one of the most intriguing storybooks of the year.
