Julie Ann Brown is an American actress, comedian, singer-songwriter, screenwriter and director best known for her iconic 1980s "valley girl" persona and sharp celebrity parodies. She carved out a unique space in pop culture by blending pop music with subversive sketch comedy and achieved massive cult success with novelty hits like "Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" (a dark parody of mid-century teenage tragedy songs) and "'Cause I'm a Blond".
To avoid confusion with her contemporary British MTV counterpart, "Downtown Julie Brown," she was often referred to as "West Coast Julie Brown" or "Miss Julie Brown".
