Alexander Schleich is a filmmaker and director based in Jacksonville, Florida, whose work is rooted in documentary storytelling, character, and visual atmosphere. A graduate of the University of North Florida with dual bachelor’s degrees in Film Production and English, Schleich brings a strong understanding of story to his work across directing, cinematography, editing, and color.

His directing credits include the documentaries *This Guy Called Toby* and *A Violent Soap Opera*, both of which premiered at MOCA Jacksonville. His documentary background has shaped a filmmaking style centered on authentic people, distinctive environments, and emotionally grounded storytelling.

Schleich has also served as cinematographer on *Under The Big Top* and the narrative short *Escape*. His additional narrative work includes *Tipping the Scales*, where he served as assistant director, editor, and colorist, and *Strawberry Jam*, where he worked in production sound and post-production.

His experience across documentary and narrative filmmaking informs a directing approach focused on intentional composition, atmosphere, performance, and emotional authenticity. Schleich is also the Founder and Creative Director of Studio Portrait LLC, a documentary-first production company creating cinematic stories built around real people, experiences, and ideas.
