Ana Sofía Navia López

Biography

Ana Sofía Navia López (born March 26, 2002) is a Colombian animator and illustrator based in Los Angeles. Her animation practice involves working on a frame-by-frame hand-drawn process and it draws deeply from her cultural heritage and upbringing. She holds a BFA in Illustration with a concentration in Graphic Narrative from Parsons School of Design and is currently pursuing an MFA in Experimental Animation at CalArts.

She is the recipient of First Place in Animation at the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition and was a finalist for the Princess Grace Foundation’s Honorarium in Film and the Bienal de Ilustración Pictoline Competition in México. Her films Intermitencia (2024) and Detrás de la puerta está el jardín (2026) have screened internationally at festivals including LALIFF, FICCALI, CineToro, and Women in Animation. Her clients and collaborators include The New Yorker, Bill Plympton, and PBS.
