Rating: B-

SUPERGIRL is a beautifully gritty, visually striking cosmic adventure anchored by a powerhouse performance from Milly Alcock, who perfectly captures the raw vulnerability and fierce strength of Kara Zor-El. While the film shines brightest when diving into the somber depths of survivor's guilt and… read the rest.

When one watches a movie and leaves the theater wondering who the picture was supposed to be made for, it doesn’t bode well for the film. Unfortunately, that’s very much the case for one of this summer’s most anticipated blockbusters, the latest effort from director Craig Gillespie. So why the confusion over the target audience? It’s simple: this action-adventure superhero release is all over the map, an offering that decidedly feels like it was … read the rest.

A frustrating mess of a movie that never figures out what it wants to be or who it’s for. The story is paper‑thin and strangely unfocused, drifting from one generic fight scene to the next without any real emotional weight or clear narrative purpose. For a supposed origin film, it does a poor job making Kara Zor‑El feel compelling, coherent, or even particularly likable.

Milly Alcock’s take on Supergirl is part of the problem. Instead of givin… read the rest.

The online manosphere was attacking this movie online well before it was ever released in theaters. Feels like there is probably significant crossover with the people who bemoaned Barbie & The Little Mermaid. It's an action packed movie with a lot of heart. If this same plot was a Superman movie the dude-bros would be praising it... Don't listen to the chatter. Embrace your individuality and check it out for yourself.

"Kara" (Milly Alcock) is an unfulfilled soul who revels in a bottle and a battle in equal measure - despite the more restraining attempts at influence from her more famously caped cousin (David Corenswet). That explains why she isn't so very interested in getting involved with "Ruthye" (Eve Ridley) who is on a quest to avenge her murdered family at the hands of the mighty "Krem" (Matthias Schoenaerts). It seems, though, that try as she might she … read the rest.

I have to confess I came to "Supergirl" expecting not a lot. General reviews online and on YouTube have, for the most part, not been positive. Starting with the negatives, yes, there's a dash of woke nonsense. That said, it's not overdone, although I strongly feel any and all films are better off without it.

On the upside, this is quite an enjoyable romp. The main character of Supergirl is likeably dysfunctional and quirky, traits that follow… read the rest.

This is a fun little movie with a decent enough introduction of Supergirl and I think they do a fine job of moving her around and getting her to engage in the plot and doing things without turning into God mode and just ending the plot immediately. The inclusion of the sidekick is good and adds a lot to the narrative flavor of the story and it is fun to see Lobo do Lobo things even though he doesn't get that much room in this movie. Considering t… read the rest.

Dare I say, that by the end of Supergirl, I kinda enjoyed it more than Spider Man: Brand New Day, for one main reason:

**\[SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SUPERGIRL, SPIDER MAN: BRAND NEW DAY, AND DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN S02\]:**

After all the philosophical "killing him won't bring your family back" BS, Kara kills the villain. She left a bunch of the others alive, but she killed the main villain. Thank !@#$!

*Compared to Brand New Day allowing a child … read the rest.

Unfortunately this was not a good movie... The bad guys were all very one dimensional, the movie was full of inconsistencies and weird logic. I feel the movie was more focused on "The Message" then making a good movie :(

Open head, take out brain, enjoy film.

Don't worry about the story, it's just good vs bad again. There is no real depth to the movie. It's just there to give an excuse to show you bright colors, amazing animation, and throw in standard accents to solidify the impression that certain people are good and others are bad. Certainly do not try and learn any lessons from this film - certainly not cultural and not about mental health.

I really wanted to like this movie, but the whole action was exaggerated, that it ended up silly.

They wanted Supergirl to be cool. She has the dog "Krypto" and seems all in pain - mostly emotionally, but it's not done in a convincing way. The whole movie feels very shallow and is just another action flick. Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa were good, but couldn't save the bad script.

*Little Spoiler ahead:*
On a final note, Supergirl says… read the rest.
