Overview
Amid persistent drought and a water conflict intensified by Afghanistan under the Taliban regime, Iran’s once-thriving Hamun Lake region has become a desolate wasteland. Its sole resident, an elderly woman, survives by collecting dead fish from the dried-up lakebed.
