Del Paititi a la realidad (2005)

Overview

In March 2005, a unique public health process took place in Peru: a Regional Health Conclave in the city of Pucallpa, capital of the Amazonian region of Ucayali. The objective was to define, in a representative, participatory, and inclusive manner, the region's health priorities for the next five years. Two hundred leaders attended, representing the entire citizenry, including Amazonian communities. An oversight mission comprised of representatives from the Ucayali Ombudsman's Office, USAID Peru, and the Catholic Church was also present. At the opening ceremony, the president of the Regional Government, Edwin Vasquez, enacted the resolution making the consultation's results legally binding.
