Told in rhyme, this tells the story of Gerald McCloy who cannot speak - he just makes noises - a train, a car, you name it. Doctors can't help and his poor parents are all but driven to distraction. He is excluded from school, his inability to speak robs him of friends and soon he has acquired the eponymous moniker and become a lonely and sad young boy.
